Dr. Laura Byars is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, teaching the human resources and leadership curriculum in the Weekend and Executive MBA programs. She received her PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee, her Master’s in the same discipline from Illinois State University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. Prior to establishing her own consulting firm, Talent Strategies, Dr. Byars had extensive professional experience in talent management, workforce planning and organizational development, managed the Leadership Development Program for the Physicians Executive MBA program at the University of Tennessee, and worked as an independent consultant providing training, selection and development assessments. Dr. Byars has participated in the Conference Board’s Council for Talent Management and currently serves on the Inforum Center for Leadership – Advisory Board and the HR committee for HAVEN, a non-profit that seeks to eliminate domestic violence. She is also a member of the Michigan Association for Industrial and Organization Psychology (MAIOP), Society for Industrial and Organization Psychology (SIOP) and the American Psychological Association (APA).
